Outdoor-Hive Newsletter #69 January 7, 2026

Tips and career/job opportunities in the shooting, hunting, archery, and sportfishing industries. These are the opportunities that will grow your career and grow our industry.

This morning, I am walking into a renewed and hopefully energetic Archery Trade Association ATA SHOW. I am starting this year with excitement and a ‘glass half full’ mentality as I attack the show season and a very busy first quarter. I am excited and am hopeful for our industry in shooting, hunting, fishing, and archery. I love the hook and bullet space, and it’s why we have spent the last year-plus building Outdoor-Hive for all of you and all of the folks that have yet to even see our humble little newsletter.

The ATA Show is very special to me because it was one of the very first shows that I attended once I realized that as a blogger with HuntingLife.com, I could be considered media and they would allow me into the show. My very first show, I met Will Primos and shook hands with folks who I admired and learned all about the industry and how it worked and this year, I am celebrating my 20th year as the owner of Huntinglife.com and my 23rd year as a blogger putting out stories, articles, tips, and gear reviews.

One of the things I really like about this show is that I get to drive to it when it is in Indianapolis. Road time for me is catch up time to think but also to listen to a backlog of podcasts that I really like. I listen to a long podcast, then a little bluegrass and think about what I learned and then another long podcast and I take notes. One of the podcasts I heard last night between two of the top 10 podcasters in the world got me thinking and I thought I would share it here: Diary of a CEO Interview with Chris Williamson. This was an honest back and forth between two men that have absolutely risen to the top of their craft. I also listened to a little Southern Outdoorsmen Hunting Podcast and these guys are absolutely producing show after show of epic content week after week.

My New Year resolution this year is to produce 50-plus great newsletter’s right her for all of you, continue to work with companies to get their job listings live in our newsletter for and help grow this industry. I will also continue to grow Hunting Life Magazine and continue my work with AGLOW as we step into our 70th year as the nation’s oldest hook and bullet content creator organization.

Have a great week and THANK YOU for being a part of the Outdoor Hive.
