Outdoor-Hive Newsletter September 25th, 2024

This week, I am in the Land Between the Lakes at the Kentucky Dam Village State Park for the AGLOW (Association of Greater Lakes Outdoor Writers) Annual Conference. It was at this show almost a year ago that I began shopping this idea of an employment newsletter around and gaining ideas from people on how best to get this newsletter launched. A lot of folks in our industry probably have no idea that there are groups such as AGLOW that support our industry. AGLOW connects outdoor media, outdoor writers, and outdoor content creators with companies from the industry as well as tourism departments at events like this for a week of networking, shooting, fishing, and a whole lot of fun.

I have been involved in organizations like this since 2008, just after I began building HuntingLife.com. It was being able to connect with like minded individuals that helped fuel my desire to be an outdoor communicator and become a better writer. It was also those connections that has helped me to grow my career and my business. When I saw the opportunity to apply for the position of Executive Director for AGLOW, I jumped at the chance to apply for and interview for this position and ultimately accept this position. I was, and am, honored to step into this role. I look forward to the challenge. I am sure I will talk about my passion for this organization in future issues.

As we build Outdoor Hive, it is very much on the minds of both Dave and I that it will be the community of our subscribers and the networking opportunities we provide that will be one of our most important assets we have to nurture. This is one of the reasons we have asked all of our subscribers to double-opt to our newsletter. This is also why we are slowly building this newsletter with quality job listings and funny dad jokes.

Thank you for joining us on this ride.

~ Kevin and Dave
